My Son and Nephews

Zurück

Hi, I'm Li Ziwei. I'm Liza's son. Nice to meet you!

I just had a bath. Cool!!!   3 months old

When I was 11 months old, on a muggy Summer afternoon, sitting on the grass, I was waiting for...

Can you imagine a two-year-old boy carrying 1kg apples for his parents? It is goddamn heavy, but I can make it!

When I was 3 years old, I had already known how to pose in front of a camera and smile into it with dimples.

I'm unwilling to be the second role! Actually I didn't know who the girl was, though I was holding her hand. She was my parents'  friends' daughter. We met in the People's Park of Nanning during 2005 Chinese Spring Festival holidays.

When I (left) was in kindergarten, I learnt that helping each other is a virtue of human being.

We were having a celebration party in kindergarten for the coming 1995 New Year.

My grandma, who used to be the vice editor-in-chief of Guangxi People's Publication House, was showing me how to water the plants in her balcony when I was 5 years old.  Do I look cute wearing such a Urumuqi cap? It was a souvenir from my grandma who just came back from a business trip to Xinjiang Urumuqi Autonomous Region.

During 1996 Chinese Spring Festival holidays, in Nanning People's Park, I played Chinese Chess with my grandpa who used to be the director of Guangxi Correspondent Station of Worker's Daily in China mainland and the director of Guangxi Correspondent Station of Wen Wei Po Daily in HK when I was 7 years old.

In Mar. 12, 1995, the Chinese Forestation/Arbor Day, mom told me that everyone should protect green plants  cause they beautified our environment, supplied us fresh air by releasing oxygen and, prevented water loss and soil erosion. She said, "For the healthy growing of a tree or a child, special care is necessary."

Summer Holiday of 1998, Guangzhou city

During the Summer Holiday of 1998, our family flew to Guangzhou city in Guangdong Province for a few days, and then from Guangzhou city to Shenzhen city by an express train.  While we were visiting Shenzhen Wild Animal Zoo, I was hold by the nose of an elephant.

Afterwards, we flew from Shenzhen city to Sanya city of Hainan Province to enjoy the beautiful beach, clear water, exciting seashore, pleasant sunshine and fresh seafood.  There is a rock carved Tianyahaijiao (the end of the world) by our Chinese ancestors because Hainan was the farest land they could see at that time, they thought the earth were square and the sky were round.

Sometimes, I visit the Qingshan(Green Mountain) Park of Nanning with my parents and their friends during weekends and holidays to play games with my friends and enjoy sunshine.

My father and I were taking a rest after long-time swimming.

When I was 14  years old.  Besides obtaining excellent study scores in school, I had also kept improving my piano playing skill by continous practice. In the celebration party for the coming 2004 New Year, I had played piano pieces for all my classmates and teachers, therefore, I had built up enviable reputation of excellence on piano playing in my class. And, I had passed  Grade Seven Examination for Piano Amateurs in Guangxi in Dec. 2003.  Since then, I have been qualified for test exemption to be enrolled by the Affiliated Middle School of Guangxi Arts College for further piano study, if I want.

 An Unforgettable Trip to France

I flew from Nanning city to Guangzhou city in the evening of July 3rd, 2005, and then, flew from Guangzhou to Paris and afterwards,  from Paris to Brest on July 4th, 2005.  I was picked up by the Hunauts family at Brest Airport in the evening of July 4th.

It was my first time to fly alone, curiosity and worriness were full of my mind at the moment I boarded the plane.  It was rather easy for me to get the boarding pass and check-in at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport cause I was still in China.  After boarding the plane for Paris, I tried to fall asleep.   Being half asleep and half awake for quite a long time,  the air hostess announced that the plan arrived Paris and I got out off the plane with other passengers at Charles de Gaule Airport.  While wlking out, some passengers and I were stopped by a French policeman and a policewoman.  The police asked us a lot of questions, in the beginning I couldn't understand them cause they spoke very fast and with French accent I thought.  I called my mother by mobile phone and mother told me that when it was to my turn, passed the mobile to the police and she would answer the police's questions  for me.  5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes passed, while my mother was waiting for my phone call worrily in her office in China, I called and told her that I had been released from the check-out gate of CDG Airport!   The story is: I listened to the questions carefully again and again while the police asked other passengers in front of me, and, from the answers given by other passengers, I almost understood all questions and when it was to my turn, I'd tried to answer them by myself.  It was a small challenge but I won at last!

Another unexpected thing happened when I wanted to board the plane to Brest:  I was told by an examiner who checked my borading pass that the plane for Brest had taken off half an hour ago! And, he told me that I should had waited at the boarding gate next to this one!  I called mother for help again. Realizing that it was not my mistake (the airport staff wrote the wrong gate number in my boarding pass), mother asked me to explain the situation to the persons in airport uniform and tried to find whether there was another flight to Brest at the same day.   After runnung here and there and explaining my situation again and again to almost every staff in airport uniform,  I got another boarding pass for the flight to Brest 3 hours later than my original connected flight, but anyway, free of charge!

I had been in France from July 4th to July 17th, 2005.  I lived with a French family in a small town named Lannilis. Lannilis is located in the west of France, near the east beach of Atlantic Ocean and a French big city Brest. There are around 4,000 inhabitants in Lannilis.  My French exchange partner is Manuel Hunaut who is 17 years old, he has 2 younger brothers, one is Floflo Hunaut who is 14 years old and the other is John Hunaut who is 8 years old.  The mother of Manuel works in a French food ingredient company which produces alginate and alginic acid from seaweed;  the father of Manuel is a manager of a local supermarket.  While I stayed in France, I found a lot of differences between China and France, especially on the living conditions and life-styles of people:  In the town I lived, almost each family has a big house & a garden and, almost each family has at least one car, in my impression, people in Lannins are not as much as those in my hometown, and normally they get up at 9 or 10 o'clock, therefore I always have around 1 hour to communicate with my parents by online chat via PC before John knocking at my door and calling me loudly:  "I've prepared your milk!"   There are also differences between Chinese and French dinners: People there do not drink soup during dinner, instead, they drink wine or beverage; people there do not use chopsticks, instead, they use fork and knife; the meat there are always in very big piece and no bones inside, and, people have dinners in France always later than we do in China. While I was in Lannilis, local people have breakfast at around 10:00am, lunch at around 13:30pm and supper at around 20:30pm.

During my exchange period, the Hunauts and I had been to Paris to visit some famous buildings like Eiffel Tower, Avenues des Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, and, to have sightseeing along the Seine River.  The structures and streets in France are quite different from those in my home town. There are also some tourist attractions in Lannilis. On other occasions, I played football, basketball and table tennis with Manuel and his brothers, I also played PC games and chess with Manuel.  I won Manuel 3:0 in chess while he beat me on basketball.  Manuel has been a handball player for 10 years, he is very strong and he can throw the basketball further than I do.

I will never forget this trip because it enriched my life experience and let me know a lot of things about France and French people.

At last, I want to say that French people are very friendly and  I like France very much!  I hope I'll have another chance to know something about another foreign country in the future.

Li Ziwei/Nanning, Guangxi, China

Manuel passed the single-plank bridge in Yizhou City of Guangxi Province.  Yizhou is the hometown of the actress of Liu Sanjie (the third daughter of Family Liu) who is a legendary fairy in Zhuang Nationality.  The legend has been recruited since Tang Dynasty of ancient China,  it has over 1000-year history, in which, Liu Sanjie was described as a beautiful and smart girl with excellent singing skills,  the team of Liu Sanjie and her sisters fighted against Landlord Mr.Mo and the 3 scholars (Xiucai) employed by Mo and beated them during Dui Ge (song-tying, songs competition) by using intelligence.

Manuel acted as 1 of the 3 scholars (Xiucai) in another occasion.

Manuel was playing a Zhuang Nationality game.

Tried to use wood chopsticks for eating.  Experts believe the history of wood or bamboo chopsticks can be dated to about 1000 years earlier than ivory chopsticks.

Father drove us to Merryland at the countryside of Guilin City.  Merryland is called Disneyland in Guangxi.

COLORFUL GERMANY TRIP

From July 28 to August 10 of 2006, I had been to Germany, a country which gave me deep impression.  I lived with the family of my German exchange partner Florian Sass, whose father works in the same multi-national corporation as my mother. Florian lives with his grandfather, grandmother, father, mother and younger sister in 2 connected houses in the countryside of Worms. Germany is different from China in many aspects, and also different from France in some ways: In Germany, normally the main stuff for breakfast and supper is bread, and for lunch the main stuff are bread, noodles, chicken and fish, while in China, normally rice noodles, congee or steam bread are for breakfast and, rice and meat are for lunch and supper; in Germany, the vegetable dish is “sour” to me and the meat is very big but delicious, while in China, the meat is sliced or shredded.  After dinner, people in Germany normally eat some desserts or fruit, however, the ice cream sometimes doesn’t taste good cause the smell of it is like the pesticide’s, my feeling just proves the saying “one man's meat is another man's poison”.

I had been to many cities during my stay in German, like Berlin, Worms and Frankfurt. There are many beautiful buildings in those cities, some are modern skyscrapers built after the 2nd World War, while others are not very tall but very old and valuable. The most interesting buildings are churches, their designs are characteristic and in which we can see many pictures in the wall that reflect the history of ancient times.

When I was in Berlin, I had taken two trips, one by city traveling car and the other by ship. In the car, the tour guide was very friendly to me and introduced me many important places in Germany, such as the president’s house and the representative office of each country.  The most important place I’d visited in Berlin was the Olympic sports ground, they look bigger than the one I have ever seen by TV, especially the football ground, another place which impressed me a lot was the vehicle manufacturing factory, I’d seen a lot of ancient vehicles which I could only see in films before. Except visiting cities, I had also lived in the town where Florian lives for several days. At the town, sometimes I went to a lake for swimming with Florian, the water in the lake is much colder but cleaner than the beach water in my hometown; sometimes I went window-shopping with Florian, the things in German shops were very expensive for me to buy but it was a pleasure to see many things that I had never seen before.

At last, I want to say that I'm so lucky and proud to have visited 2 foreign countries before 17 years old, without the accompany of my parents!
